American Milers Club HP 10,000 (MandW) October 29th: Fields Filling UpPublished by
October 19, 2011 (Indianapolis) The Indiana Invaders are set to wrap up hosting their eighth season of national class racing focused on USA National Qualifying Standards. October 29th after sundown the action on the track begins with the final races of the American Milers Club High Performance Series. The late October date of high performance racing will be held on the historic Billy Hayes Track at The Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex. While the series focuses on middle distance events, 800 and 1500 meters with the inclussion of 400 meter and 3000 meters steeplechase races in June, the series wraps every fall with 10,000 meter races for men and women. Featured efforts from current entries will see men pursuing sub 28:30 efforts and women seeking sub 33:10 performances. Race opportunities are specifically designed to serve athletes seeking national and international level qualifying marks. Meet Director, Greg Harger said, "Our out-of-the-ordinary 10,000 meter race date simply allows athletes a much needed additional date within the Olympic Trials window at a time of year which coincidently also provides a last chance opportunity to also qualify for the Olympic Trials Marathon". Harger added, "We appear to have finally crossed a numbers threshold with many athletes starting to realize that this opportunity at 10,000 meters is almost free in the sense that it does not compromise any other significant race opportunities available at this distance throughout the year". |
